‘My World’
Foundation Statement:
Our world faces serious environmental and social issues. One may feel angry and scared and not encouraged to express those feelings. By asking the question "what makes you most angry about your world?", students will have an opportunity to reflect and explore issues in their world that they feel most passionate about. Through writing and class discussion, they will determine one issue to focus on, research and document using photography. they will use the web to research as well as interviewing techniques to obtain information for their projects. in-class critiques will hone the skills of the craft of photography, as well as develop their own aesthetic. Students will create a final project of a resource book or blog for other teenagers to reference. By educating themselves and then passing on the education to others, they develop skills as problem-solvers and activists in their community.
Essential Question:
How can my world educate and inspire me? How can I educate and inspire my world?
